Solar Incentives for Business

Uncapped 30% federal tax credit for solar property based on the total cost of the system. For more info, click here.
Five-year accelerated depreciation, also known as Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) on solar property. For more info, click here.

TVA Green Power Providers (GPP) and Solar Solutions Initiative: For a limited time, TVA will pay a 9 cent premium for solar production under GPP. GPP participants approved in 2013 will receive 9 cents plus the GSA-1 rate (about 10 cents) per kWh for solar electric production - totaling about 19 cents per kWh.  Systems approved in GPP are capped at 50 kilowatts as well as limited in size to produce no more than the building's consumption.
In Middle TN, we expect production of approximately 1,300 kWh a year for each kW of installed capacity. Thus, a 50 kW system generates about 65,000 kWh/year, and the utility would pay you $12,350/year (GSA-1 rate is 10 cents). The GP 12 cent premium is limited to systems under 50 kW. Over 50 kW requires participation under the Solar Solutions Initiative (SSI). Please contact us or visit the TVA website for the latest developments on SSI.

UPDATE: TVA has implemented a GPP program capacity limit of 7.5MW for 2013.  Once TVA receives applications for 7.5MW, the program is expected to close for the rest of the year.  Contact us for a free consultation, and we will help you decide if solar is right for you.  Then, we prepare your GPP application and send to the local utility and TVA for approval.
